Habits play a significant role in our life and daily habits define our lifestyle. If you are looking to make your life better and work on personal growth the first start should be building daily habits to make your life better. Good daily habits bring a positive change in your life and make you very successful.

I have over time built some daily habits that have shaped my life to be more fulfilling. And anytime I find a need of making things better in life it always comes down to daily habits.

Hence in this post, I am sharing with you 10 daily habits to improve your life, that I have put into practice and have changed my life.

Let’s get started.

10 daily habits that will change your life

Here are 10 simple-to-follow habits that can improve you and change your life.

10 daily habits to improve your life

1. List everything

The habit of listing down everything is a habit that has made my work and personal life easy. This habit has made me productive and less forgetful about things. I always have a few pages in my notebook reserved for a To-Do list, to which I keep adding things to do when I come across them.

Each day before starting my work, I spend a few minutes to think anything that needs to be done and including it in my To-Do list. Doing this I never forget any task and I am able to plan my work very effectively. Having a habit to make a To-Do list reduces anxiety as you do not feel overwhelmed by many things, as when it is written you will take care of it. If you need help in making the To-Do list the right way you can read 10 Ways To Make An Effective To-Do List. Over the period of making To-Do lists, I have realized that some tasks are repetitive and can be made as a master list to make things easier. So, I now make lists to organize my life and my work, you can read about it in my post 20 Lists to make to organize your life and 12 Master Lists you must make to be organized at work respectively.

2. Plan the day

You should plan your day in advance for better time management and make the most of the available time. I like to plan my day the night before, this gives me clarity about the expectation from the day and I can start my day with the tasks rather than spending the time thinking about where to begin.

I start planning my day with my To-Do and then prioritize tasks. I like to identify the 3 most important tasks that have to be necessarily done on the day and focus on getting them completed during the day. The habit of planning the day in advance has improved my productivity and allowed me to spend time on things that bring the desired results.

To make daily planning easier I like to do weekly and monthly planning too, you can read about it in my posts Weekly planning secrets for work-life balance and Monthly Goal Planning for Balanced Life under 30 min.

3. Wake up early

Waking up early may sound cliché as a daily habit advice but it is really a game changer. When you get in the habit of waking up early every day you can make the most of the morning hours. Many successful people swear by getting up early. There are many benefits to getting up early. I feel there is something magical about getting up early, you find calm and uninterrupted time, and find a few minutes for yourself to do things you like and not be worried about reaching work or college on time. However, just getting up early may not be sufficient you should build a morning routine around your needs to make the best of waking up early. If you are looking for some good ideas for the morning routines, you should read my post, 50 Good morning routine ideas that suit everyone

4. Spend 15-minute with yourself

The daily habit of spending some time just by yourself can go a long way to help you keep your calm and be intentional with your life. With all the hustle and chaos of life, you may at times, feel disconnected from yourself and also get anxious. You can choose to have this time in the morning or after work as you feel the need. You can just sit quietly or talk to yourself or spend some time doing things you like. But spending just as little as 15 minutes by yourself brings a positive change in your life and helps you feel things are under control.

I like to spend a good 15 minutes sitting by the window and sipping water, it is very relaxing and also, lets me make up for dehydration as I am one of those who forget to drink water. On days when I don’t spend quite 15 minutes with myself, I realize to be grumpy.

5. Listen to intellectual podcasts

I think having the habit to listen to podcasts daily can help you learn each day and make your life better. There are so many new things to learn and opportunities to be inspired by great minds around the world to improve your life. I feel so grateful to be living in times when these are easily available to us due to technology. As we all have limited time, I think we can make the best use of our time by listening to podcasts during the commute or while doing monotonous chores. This lets you have your daily dose of learning without spending much time. You can choose from informational to motivational, there are podcasts available on every topic, you should definitely try to build a habit of listening to podcasts especially if you are someone who does not like to read. 6. Read 5 minutes

A daily habit of reading improves your life. I think reading is the best way to spend your time and even if you don’t have a lot of time just make a habit of reading for 5 minutes each day, don’t worry about the number of pages you read just 5 minutes each day and you will be surprised to see the changes it brings to you. You can choose to read fiction or non-fiction both will help you improve your focus, and creativity and make you calm.

Reading non-fiction books on topics like self-help and biographies will motivate, inspire and develop soft skills. I like to read a mix of fiction and non-fiction books.

Also, I prefer reading books in spite of listening to podcasts daily as they cover one topic in depth whereas podcasts may be for a few minutes, and reading have different benefits compared to listening.

7. Work on a side hustle

Since starting this blog as a side hustle I have learned so many new things and it has completely changed my lifestyle in a positive way. Yes, it is a lot of hard work doing it along with a full-time job but it is all worth it. The satisfaction of making something from scratch with no help and experience is a great boost. I think with the uncertainties in life it is good to build a side hustle. When I started blogging, I had no clue about it and was not confident if I will be able to make some time for it, but just doing something small each day goes a long way. And I realized that if we make time for anything it will get done. Running a side hustle has made me look at things and life from a different perspective and that is so enlightening.

8. Express gratitude

Having a daily habit of expressing gratitude brings positivity to your life. You feel more fulfilled and accomplished with life and don’t fall into comparison or complain about others. Many times I would feel not supported by people around me and experience discontent but when I practice gratitude I realize there are many kind people around me. To continually feel the positive daily expression of gratitude is necessary, although this is something that I don’t do on a daily basis but want to make it a daily habit.

9. Eat on time

To keep your life happy and healthy eating on time is important. With work throughout the day, we often miss meals and over the period it can be unhealthy. To maintain a good energy level throughout the day and be healthy it is essential that you make a habit to eat on time. Eating on time is a habit that I have built after realizing that I would get headaches and energy drop because of missing meals, this would affect productivity and my ability to concentrate on work. So, in order to improve your life you should have the habit to eat on time or else you may not be able to achieve anything.

10. Organize daily

Organized space is an organized mind, build the habit to keep things organized as it helps you avoid chaos and be efficient in your work. Build simple daily routines to keep things organized. A small act like making the bed in the morning or tidying up the house at the end of the day can improve your life and keeps things easy to manage.
